Some would argue that the Met Gala Camp-themed red carpet was shut down before it even truly started tonight, thanks to the evening’s co-host, Lady Gaga, and her four—yes, four—looks. She teamed up with designer Brandon Maxwell for a literal show, with the cherry on the cake being her striking a few backbends on the infamous Met steps in her lasat bra and underwear ensemble.
The first Monday in May has been a treat to watch, the Camp theme truly had the celebrities showing out (case in point: Billy Porter being carried out a litter). Our Coveteur Slack channel was blowing up—always the sign of a noteworthy red carpet. “So into Harry Styles’ nipple-high pants” and “Wow. A galactic peacock” (in reference to Céline Dion) were some of the comments flying around, and those were even before we had laid eyes on Jared Leto carrying his own head, Laverne Cox’s steel-y beauty look, Kacey Musgraves dressed as Barbie, and Katy Perry dressed as a freaking chandelier.
