Exclusive: Kacey Musgraves Eats Burgers in Couture Before the Oscars

“Frothy pink magic” were the words that celebrity stylist, Erica Cloud, used to describe her client’s 2019 Oscars gown. Said client was four-time Grammy winner (!!!), country music star, Kacey Musgraves, and honestly, Cloud nailed it with her description of the tulle Giambattista Valli haute couture number that Musgraves glided down the red carpet in. ‘Glided’ being the appropriate word here considering Cloud has one of the best red carpet survival hacks out there: rubbing Lord Jones CBD lotion on the bottom of Musgraves feet so she can avoid any heel pain.

If we’re being honest, the team seemed to have every minute detail down pat, from having two complete looks (both for the main event and the after party) pulled together with only a single fitting, to making sure Musgraves got to enjoy bubbly (straight out the bottle, of course) and a burger before walking out the door. We got a firsthand look at all of this by way of Cloud’s iPhone gallery. All we’re left to wonder is, next time can we join?

The look:

“Kacey wore a tulle gown from the lastest Giambattista Valli haute couture collection and it was love at first sight! We knew it was the one the moment we put it on, and loved it’s frothy pink magic. She changed into a bronze crystal Versace gown [for the Vanity Fair after party] that literally went from the runway to my door!”

The dress selection process sounds easier than we thought it would be:

“As soon as we found out she was attending, I started calling in dresses. She went immediately back on tour after the Grammys so I only had a chance to see her that week and then again the Saturday night before the ceremony. We felt like it was the appropriate setting to wear a dress of this caliber and celebrate the event.”

Naturally, an amazing dress deserves amazing accessories:

“I custom-dyed a pair of Brian Atwood platforms to match the dress and give her as much height as possible for all of those layers. Apparently they are really comfortable as well! For the jewels and clutch, we matched the crystals of the bow on the waist of the gown with the Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch (that happened to be the name!), and [chose] diamond earrings and ring from Beladora, and a diamond ring with a pink pearl from Neil Lane.”

All-gold-everything was the theme for the after party:

“For the Versace [dress], we matched the gold hardware on the straps of the gown with a metal gold clutch from Tyler Ellis, Aldo gold platforms (again, for comfort), gold and diamond rings from Diamond Foundry and Dana Rebecca gold and diamond studs.”

Kacey went for a different getting ready vibe than she typically does:

“She has a few great mixes she plays [when getting ready], but for this event [she] went with Parisian vibes for the essence of the dress and the beautiful balcony we were looking out of!”

But the good vibes never left:

“We are continually laughing with her amazing and hilarious glam team, hairstylist Giovanni Delgado and makeup artist Moani Lee. It’s never not fun!”

Erica’s red carpet survival hack:

“Always the Lord Jones CBD lotion on her feet to help with the pain of being in heels for so many hours.”

Her favorite memory with Kacey happened not too long ago:

“When she won four of the Grammys she was nominated for, including Album of the Year! I think she looked young, fresh, and elegant in the red Valentino silk dress she accepted the award in.”

The last thing she tells Kacey before she hits the red carpet:

“[I] make sure to tell her to have fun! And that there’s topstick in her clutch. [laughs].”
